Schema and Diagrams
The explorer on the left lists the objects in the open connection. Right-click any of them to create, change, or drop it, or to open a diagram.
Explorer
| Database | What the explorer shows |
|---|---|
| PostgreSQL | Databases, schemas, tables, views, materialized views |
| MySQL | Databases, tables, views |
| SQLite | Tables, views |
Right-click an object and choose Refresh after changing it outside DBO Studio. Copy name copies the object name for use in SQL.
Create and edit objects
Right-click a node to see what you can do with it:
| Object | Actions |
|---|---|
| Database | Create, edit, drop |
| Schema (PostgreSQL) | Create, edit, drop |
| Table | Create, edit, drop |
| View | Create, edit, drop |
| Materialized view (PostgreSQL) | Create, drop |
Creating or editing opens a form with one section per part of the object. For a table that means general info, columns, keys, foreign keys, and indexes.
- Make your changes in the form.
- Open Query preview to see the exact SQL DBO Studio will run.
- Click Save to run it, or discard the changes.
With an AI provider set up, the sparkles button in the form's status bar suggests a definition from a short description.
Warning: Drop actions remove the object and its data. Turn on Safe Mode for connections where that would hurt.
Diagrams
Right-click a database, schema, or table and choose Open diagram. The diagram shows tables with their columns, marks primary keys (PK) and foreign keys (FK), and draws a line for each relationship.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Auto layout | Arranges tables so relationships are easy to follow. |
| Fit view | Zooms to show every table. |
| Show DBML source | Shows the schema as DBML text you can copy. |
| Export | Saves the diagram as PNG or SVG. |
Opening a diagram from a table focuses on that table and its direct relationships.
Changes proposed by the agent
When the AI assistant proposes a schema change, it opens on the diagram as a pending changeset. New and changed tables are highlighted. Click Review & apply to see the SQL and run it, or Reject to drop it. Nothing changes until you apply.
