Explain SQL Queries for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite
PostgreSQL
What this tool can and cannot infer
The explanation is derived from the parsed query structure, so it describes what the statement asks the database to do. It cannot know your data, row counts, runtime, or whether the query is correct or fast.
This tool reads the SQL text. It does not run the query, contact a database, or produce an EXPLAIN plan with costs and row estimates. Use EXPLAIN in your database for optimization decisions.
Explanation runs in your browser. Query text, schema text, and explanations are not posted to a server, written to local storage, or included in analytics events.
